Chanel Haute Couture

We all love Chanel, and once again Karl Lagerfeld has showed us why with the new Spring-Summer 17 Haute-Couture collection.

The show being held in the Grand Palais not only had gorgeous looks, but also some the most popular it girls of today. Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Arizona Muse and Lily-Rose Depp were a few of the models chosen to walk the runway.

The collection was filled with classic Chanel looks like tweed suits in soft, delicate pastel colors. It was simply beautiful. Lagerfeld said he wanted the girls to looks "like walking fashion drawings".
In fashion, it seems like every brand is trying to top each other with how outrageous and strange their collections are in order to get media attention. However, Chanel remains classic and feminine.

The feathers and sequins added glamour to the posh looks. Lagerfeld wanted the collection to be "silver, mirror, metal-y and aluminum-like". When hearing that one might think of a very futuristic show, but the looks are more like a modern-day version of Coco Chanel's most classic looks.

Karl Lagerfeld, the genius behind Chanel, was inspired by something quite unusual this season. He designed the collection after Alberto Giacometti’s sculpture Spoon Woman (1926). The spoon depicts a woman's neck, bust, waist and hips. The looks from the collection share this silhouette with belted, high-waisted  looks and full ball gowns.
