Franca: Chaos and Creation

This past week I watched a documentary on Netflix all about the life of Franca Sozzani, the Editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia. It was filmed by her son, Francesco Carrozzini, and it covered everything from her personal life, work life, and the controversy that surrounded it all. The documentary really gives the audience a look inside the fashion industry through the eyes of one of the most powerful women in it. Sadly, on December 22, 2016 Franca passed away but this documentary does an amazing job at capturing how she changed fashion and media forever.

Franca was best friends with Gianni Versace and they helped give models like Linda, Christy, and Naomi global fame due to "double exposure" (catwalks to magazine covers) and the press named them "super models" which was an unprecedented phenomenon.

Above was Franca's first issue as Editor-in-chief and below are some of my favorite editorials under her command.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE SHOOTS EVER!!!
Vogue Italia October 1989
"Bentornata Christy"
Model: Christy Turlington
Photographer: Steven Meisel
Hair: Oribe
Makeup: Francois Nars

Vogue Italia June 1992
"Cindy"
Model: Cindy Crawford
Photographer: Michel Comte
Stylist: Marina Schiano
Hair: Cemal
Makeup: Carol Shaw

Vogue Italia October 2006
"The One and Only"
Model: Kate Moss
Photographer: Mario Testino

Franca didn't care if the designer clothes were cute out of an editorial, she just wanted to evoke a feeling throughout each shot.

Would highly recommend giving this documentary a go if you're interested in the fashion industry!

Halloween
For those of you who are scary late planning your Halloween costume, I've compiled some of my favorite celebrity costumes along with my own.
There are plenty of really impressive costumes in stores, but  I usually prefer to put my own together.
If you want to take the easy way out you should check out https://legavenue.com/ they have both sexy and cute costumes.

For those who like to get creative, you should search dance costume stores. It's an easy and fun way to put a costume together that no one else will have!

This Is Not For You

Sarah Bahbah is an Australian artist known for her 'raw storytelling' and 'emotionally introspective' works. She releases her newest series on her instagram page and it flows as if you're watching a movie with the subtitles adding to the cinematic feel. Love, heartbreak, and inner monologues are the main topics featured in Sarah's art. Her works have been in numerous art galleries including Scope, Art Basel Miami, and Saatchi Gallery in London. She has also created content for Topshop, Vogue, and even Capitol Records. Just over a month until Art Basel graces Miami with the best of the best when it comes to the art world and hopefully she makes her way back this year!

Below are some of my favorites from each series but check out her website or instagram to get the full effect of each story!
