New York City Travel Diary #2

Last Monday the pink ladies reunited in the big apple and had the best time exploring some new spots as well as visiting our favorite spots. We have previously made a travel guide and our first NYC travel diary in case you want some more places to check out!

WHERE WE STAYED

We stayed at The Public Hotel and it was the most amazing hotel I've ever had the pleasure of staying at! The rooms were modern and minimal with amazing features and the comfiest bed. They have a cafe and restaurant on the first floor, a bar next to the lobby, and a rooftop bar! I would highly recommend this place to everyone and would definitely stay here again!

GLOSSIER

Our first stop in the city is always Glossier to grab some of our must-have beauty products!

THE MET

We always make a stop at The Met for their stunning exhibits and especially this summer for the Heavenly Bodies exhibit. If you are planning to visit New York soon you must visit this stunning piece of art. Designers from Saint Laurent to Versace all have designs especially made to be shown this summer and it really is a heavenly experience.

THE ARCTIC MONKEYS

We had another amazing experience and that was witnessing the Arctic Monkeys live for the first time! If you want to read more we have a whole post on that night.

PHD AT DREAM

I think it's already known that this is our favorite place to go out when we're in the city.

THE HIGHLINE

Old train tracks turned walk way filled with beautiful flowers and scenes of the city. We happened to go on a rainy day but usually they have food stalls all along as well.

BROOKLYN

We made our way to Brooklyn and did some shopping at places such as CatBird, then we visited the Brooklyn museum for the first time and it was beautiful, and we also grabbed some yummy treats at Momofuku Milk Bar.

GEMMA

If you're looking for some good Italian food head over to Gemma which is attached to The Bowery Hotel and enjoy an amazing dinner!

MULBERRY ICONIC MAGAZINES

If you're a magazine junkie like us then you will love this place!

Can't wait for our next visit to the city!

Arctic Monkeys

Arctic Monkeys

As of July 24th, 2018, I can officially say I have seen my favorite band in concert. The Pink Ladies headed to Forest Hills Stadium in New York to see the British band play some new songs off their most recent album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino (check out our review here) and some old favorites. Let me tell you, they did not disappoint, apart from the fact lead singer, Alex Turner, chopped his hair just in time for our show.

It's amazing how similar they sound live to their records. Alex's voice is just as good in concert as it is live... I might even say better, because of his note rifts and sassy remarks mid-song.

I was a bit worried about some of the older tunes not making the setlist, but the band knew not to cut old hits like "Do Me a Favour", "505" and "I Bet That You Look Good on the Dance Floor".
The crowd during was wild during the latter. It's the song that got everyone's attention and launched them to stardom.

But the one that I waited impatiently, over the last five years, to hear was "Do I Wanna Know". And the wait was well worth it.

If you ever have the chance to see the Arctic Monkeys live, I beg that you do.

Until next time, their tunes will remain on repeat.

From the Bedroom to the Streets

From the Bedroom to the Streets

I love bodysuits and it seems like everyone else in the fashion world is on-board too.
They're sexy, chic and don't take too much effort.

Simple bodysuits can look cool and casual with jeans.

And yet they can still look great dressed-up with a skirt.

Some of my favorites are actually lingerie, but who says they can't be worn out of the bedroom?

Summer Favorites

Summer Favorites

White linen dresses, playful sunnies, and glowing make-up - all of these are what I'm loving for summer right now. During the warmer months it's always 'less is more' when it comes to dressing and makeup, so I like to incorporate some stand out pieces to help reflect that.

Here are a few of my favorite things...

FASHION

When it comes to accessorizing for the summer season I love a straw basket or a nice bucket bag. This bag from urban outfitters is a happy medium as it could easily transition from summer to autumn (and it's on sale right now so grab it before it's gone). Also, it's a knock-off of a Simon Miller handbag which can retail for over $500!
I have wanted a pair of these sunglasses ever since the Le Specs x Adam Selman collab came out and everyone grabbed The Last Lolita style. Thanks to stores like Zara you can buy a similar pair for a fraction of the price!
Going into this season I knew I wanted a dress that resembled an Isabel Marant style, and thanks to Free People I did just that! I believe this dress is still available and it's called 'In The Mood For Love Mini Dress'. I've gotten so many compliments on it and I can see myself wearing it for as long as I possibly can!

The Castaner Carina canvas wedge espadrilles are the perfect shoe for summer and they are finally mine. Thanks to people like Alexa Chung and Jeanne Damas I have wanted this specific style of shoe for as long as I can remember. They really elongate the leg because of the wedge but they have a great cushion so it feels like you're walking on air! I can't recommend these shoes enough!

MAKEUP
When it comes to makeup during this time of year I like a lighter coverage and thanks to Charlotte Tilbury's Light Wonder foundation I can achieve that look. People ask if I'm even wearing makeup because you can still see your actual skin coming through but it just adds a nice dewy glow while applying a nice even base.
The Glossier Cloud Paints are pure magic and are so easy to apply thanks to their gel formulation. They give me a sun kissed complexion when I mix them together.

Another product that adds a gorgeous glow is the RMS Living Luminzer.
This product is a cult favorite (just look into anyone's Into The Gloss Top Shelf).
Miranda Kerr, Lily Aldridge, and Rosie Huntington Whiteley all rave about this all natural highlighter!
For my eyes I've been loving the fluttery look I get by using Glossier's new mascara called Lash Slick! I usually gravitate towards a thick and clumpy mascara but this has been a nice change.
For lips I just slick on a bunch of the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb!
It's not sticky, smells amazing, and adds a subtle plumping effect. In pictures I can really see a difference in my lip size thanks to this hero product!
As for scents and body care I've had these three on rotation: Glossier Body Hero, Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess perfume, and the Ouai Rose Oil. They keep my skin hydrated and smelling of summer for hours and hours.

MISCELLANEOUS

I love to have a good book on hand while tanning by the pool or for a long plane journey!
Right now I'm reading two books at the moment and thoroughly enjoying them: 'The Goldfinch' by Donna Tartt and 'Sweetbitter' by Stephanie Danler (both set in New York.. I'm sensing a theme).

There have been some amazing new releases in the music industry and I also go back to oldies that remind me of summer.
1. LANY just released a heart breaking new single called 'Thru These Tears'
2. Florence and the Machine released a stunning new album and I would give 'South London Forever', 'Big God', and 'The End of Love' a listen!
3. The alternative French band, Phoenix, released an amazing album last summer that I recently went back to as it reminds me of this time of year. 'Lovelife', 'Goodbye Soleil', and 'Tuttifrutti' are just a few of my favorites

Happy Summer x
