RIP Oribe

Tuesday, December 18, 2018

A legend in the beauty industry, Oribe Canales, has passed away this weekend. He was a hairdresser for the stars and changed the beauty industry with his line of Oribe hair products. In 1976, Oribe moved to New York City. It was while working at the Garren at the Plaza salon that Oribe received his first editorial credit, from the magazine GQ. He then started working with photographer Steven Meisel and makeup artist Fran├žois Nars. In 1987, Oribe established his first salon in New York City's Upper West Side.

Oribe styled models' hair at fashion shows for fashion houses such as Versace, Thierry Mugler, Calvin Klein, and Chanel.

With the rise of supermodels in the 90s he really helped define a generation of hair with models such as Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, and Linda Evangelista.
His hair products are such a luxury and they work amazingly! I will forever re-purchase his Dry Texturizing Spray that doubles has a hairspray and dry shampoo (and the smell is HEAVENLY).
In honor of Oribe, Christy Turlington posted these gorgeous photos of them together during her wedding day in 2003.
